Repair or replacement
We lay out both options. You decide.
On a service call we diagnose the problem first. Then we walk through the things that actually change the decision. We are not trying to turn every visit into a new system. If a repair is the practical option, we do the repair.
What we look at.
- Equipment age
- How old the system is matters when a repair will only buy a little more time.
- Condition
- We look at the overall condition of the equipment, not only the failed part.
- Repair cost
- We explain the repair in the context of what it would take to keep the system going, so you can weigh it against replacement.
- Parts availability
- Some parts are easy to get. Others are scarce on older equipment, and that changes the practical path.
- Efficiency
- An older system may still run after a repair, and it may also use more energy than a current install.
- Repair history
- Repeated repairs on the same system belong in the conversation.
- Refrigerant type
- The refrigerant the equipment uses can affect what a repair involves going forward.
- Warranty status
- Coverage that still applies can change whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
